Berlin, May 2026 – SIGN e.V. congratulates Prof. Katia Parodi, Professor of Experimental Medical Physics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), on receiving the Innovation of the Year Award at the Premio Mercurio 2026 ceremony. The award recognizes Prof. Parodi’s outstanding research and technological innovation in Medical Physics, where her work contributes to advancing precision cancer treatment and particle therapy. Through her scientific leadership at LMU Munich, she helps bridge fundamental research and clinical application, strengthening the impact of physics in modern medicine.
The Innovation of the Year distinction is a special category of the historic Premio Mercurio, organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce for Germany (ITKAM) under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Berlin. The award celebrates achievements that foster technological progress and strengthen cooperation between Italy and Germany. The prize was presented in Berlin in the presence of Italian Ambassador Fabrizio Bucci, representatives of ITKAM, and members of the Italian-German innovation community.
