Matteo Bozzon is a philosopher and political theorist affiliated with the Italian Institute for Philosophical Studies in Naples, where he explores notions of political representation, federalism, and European constitutionalism. He earned his PhD jointly from the University of Padua and Humboldt University Berlin in 2018, with a dissertation examining the political and juridical foundations needed for a constitution of Europe beyond the nation‑state framework. His research addresses the conceptual history of political categories in the European Union, aiming to rethink democracy and sovereignty in transnational contexts. Bozzon has been involved in research fellowships including the DFG-supported “Multilevel Constitutionalism” program and the re:constitution fellowship in 2019/2020. He collaborates with research groups in Padua and works on projects at IISF to reflect on Europe's democratic crisis and the future of representative politics in supranational orders.
