Prof. Dr. Giancarlo Soavi is a physicist specializing in ultrafast optics, nonlinear spectroscopy, and two-dimensional materials. He is Professor of Ultrafast Nanophotonics at Friedrich Schiller University Jena, where he leads research on light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. His work focuses on the optical and electronic properties of layered materials, with applications in photonics, optoelectronics, and quantum technologies. He obtained his Ph.D. in Physics in Italy and held research positions in leading institutions across Europe. Prof. Soavi has contributed to pioneering studies on graphene and related materials, combining advanced spectroscopy with device engineering. He is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and international research networks. Through his teaching and mentorship, he supports the next generation of scientists working at the intersection of physics, materials science, and photonic technologies.
